The Changing Landscapes of Immigration Detention
We are excited to announce the publication of our first booklet based on a themed series initially published on the Border Criminologies blog!
The series was organised by Ana Ballesteros-Pena and Cristina Fernández-Bessa. Prior to this, the essays were presented as academic papers at the International Conference ‘Changing Landscapes of Immigration Detention’ in 2022, which brought together more than 50 scholars from a wide range of countries, three plenary lectures, fourteen panel sessions and forty two presentations. This collection highlights the diversity and changing nature of immigration detention practices around the globe, which in contrast to other manifestations of penal power, reflect a high degree of flexibility and mutability.
