In addition to and building on his academic research, Thom collaborates closely with policymakers and practitioners and is currently a Visiting Scholar at the Bank of England and an Academic Consultant at the European Central Bank. His past experience includes work for the European Commission, Goldman Sachs, and De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek.
Thom, who is trained in law and finance, will join the teaching staff for Law and Economics of Corporate Transactions (MLF) as well as for Principles of Financial Regulation and Law and Computer Science (BCL, MJur, and MLF). He will remain affiliated with the Institute for New Economic Thinking at the Oxford Martin School, the Oxford-Man Institute of Quantitative Finance, and the Global Economic Governance Programme at the Blavatnik School of Government.
I am excited and honoured to join the Faculty of Law. Oxford has become one of the leading centres for research and teaching at the intersection of law and finance, an area that is both intellectually fascinating and practically relevant. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to work with and learn from such outstanding colleagues and students.
Prior to joining the Faculty of Law, Thom worked towards a DPhil in Law and Finance and an MSc in Law and Finance at the University of Oxford and received both a BA(Hons) in Law and Economics and an LLB in Dutch Law from Utrecht University. He has been a Visiting Scholar at Columbia Law School, Yale University, and Berkeley Law School.
Thom will tweet about his work @ThomWetzer.
