Biography

Qiandai is an MPhil candidate at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies at the University of Oxford, supervised by Prof. Bettina Lange. Her research intends to describe how European competition law has conceptualised and incorporated emerging ecological objectives for a sustainable future within a restrictive scope of neoliberalism. She closely engages with methods of socio-legal studies and critical legal studies. Her current works seek to demonstrate the interaction between law and the idea of degrowth through the lens of discourse analysis.

Before joining the CSLS, Qiandai had multiple research experiences. She was selected for the Pre-doctoral Initiation to Research Program at Sciences Po (Paris, France) in 2022 and accomplished her Master's thesis on international economic law, focusing on the current evolution of WTO law regarding the national securitisation trend and Chinese state capitalism. She was a research assistant working on Chinese public policies on rural migrant workers at the Sino-French Research Center at the University of Tsinghua (Beijing, China) in 2018.

She graduated from Sciences Po Paris Law School with a Master's degree in Economic Law in 2023 and obtained her undergraduate degree from the same institution in 2020.
