Courses

BCL/MJur e-brochure

The BCL entails taking four courses which will be assessed by a written examination, or three such courses plus a dissertation. If the course in Jurisprudence and Political Theory is chosen, assessment is by way of three extended essays rather than a written examination.Photograph of Oxford

The same format applies to the MJur with the exception that you may choose one of a number of courses from the undergraduate degree programme in lieu of a BCL course.

Some of the courses listed may not run in any particular year because of the need for providers to take research leave. Information about which courses are likely not to be running in the year you propose to study can be obtained from the law faculty website.

New courses may be added to this list and occasionally some may be removed to reflect the dynamic nature of law and the changing needs of those who practise it.
