Shearman & Sterling University of Oxford Moot Competition 2015-16

The Shearman & Sterling Moot took place in Keble College on Saturday 13 February 2016. The problem was based on the law of abuse of process and criminal contempt, specifically whether interfering with one’s litigation opponent could amount to criminal contempt. The standard of mooting was very high, yielding some of the closest scores in the history of the competition.

The Grand Final was judged by The Lord Macdonald QC Kt, the Warden of Wadham College. All the four finalists, Mr Alexander Georgiou and Mr Nicholas Lee for the appellant, and Mr Benjamin Mak and Mr John Leung for the respondent received praise for their skill and legal knowledge from Lord Macdonald, but ultimately Mr Mak and Mr Leung emerged victorious.
