Legislation and the Role of the Judiciary: the SLS 2016 conference

The 107th annual Society of Legal Scholars has been held in Oxford this week, at St Catherine's College.

The plenary sessions focused on the modern approach to statutory interpretation, on whether the judges should develop the common law rather than leaving reform to the Legislature, and on the present and future work of the Law Commission. Photos and more news on the sessions will be available soon. This year, Professor Andrew Burrows presides as President of the SLS.

On Wednesday evening, the SLS Peter Birks Book Prize winner was announced, with our own Sandy Steel being awarded the runners-up prize.
