A New Regulator for Labour Market Enforcement

Professor Christopher Hodges submitted a Response to the Consultation by the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy on Good Work Plan: establishing a new Single Enforcement Body for employment rights. He points out that whilst the proposed new regulator is a good idea, its approach to compliance and enforcement will need to be standardised as the current bodies have different approaches. Importantly, there is an opportunity to transform the area of employment practice by adoption of an Ethical Good Work Code backed by a new model involving a single employment regulator and single Ombudsman (an expansion of ACAS).
