DPhil Criminology

Biography

Claudia McHardy (she/her) is Book Reviews Editor for Border Criminologies and a DPhil Candidate and Clarendon Scholar at the Centre for Criminology. Her research examines the deportation of New Zealand nationals from Australia. The project is supervised by Professor Mary Bosworth and Professor Lucia Zedner.


Claudia holds a BSc in Criminology and Social Policy with first-class honours from the London School of Economics. She completed the MSc in Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Oxford with distinction, where her Master's dissertation received awards from Routledge and Border Criminologies. Claudia recently published her first article, Punishment on Arrival: New Zealand's Returning Offenders Act 2015 (Punishment & Society, 2021).
