Academic Administrator (Undergraduate)

The Faculty of Law is looking to appoint an Academic Administrator (Undergraduate).  This is an exciting new post that involves leading the Undergraduate Student Administration Section in the Law Faculty, ensuring the provision of effective professional services to support our undergraduate degree courses for our students and our academic staff.   The postholder will report to the Head of Administration and Finance, though this arrangement is currently under review.  They will be responsible for the direct line management of a team of six.

The postholder will be expected to take a pro-active and innovative approach, to further develop the systems and strategies necessary to ensure the efficient running of the Faculty’s undergraduate student administration, in line with the Faculty’s strategic priorities; and to support the Faculty in its aims to review and develop the 2nd BA, and to pursue the overseas learning opportunities offered by the new Turing funding scheme.  Working in close collaboration with the Academic Administrator (Postgraduate) the postholder will be expected to play a key role in the formulation and implementation of the Faculty’s academic policies, as well as our equality, diversity, inclusivity, access, and outreach policies, taking into consideration not only the internal requirements of the Faculty and the University, but also the requirements of external bodies such as the Law Society and the Bar Council, and programmes to support the clinical education of current undergraduates. 

The successful candidate should be educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification; have experience of working at a similar level in a broadly comparable role; excellent organisational skills; work effectively under pressure, solving problems and bringing tasks to a successful conclusion; a flexible approach to work; excellent time management skills, and the availability to work longer hours when occasionally required; strong negotiation skills; excellent written communication skills, with an eye for detail and concern for accuracy. Experience of supervising the work of another member of staff; the ability to delegate effectively and a good understanding of financial planning, budgeting and budget management is desirable.

The post is permanent and full time. The postholder will be based in the Faculty of Law, St Cross Building, St Cross Road, Oxford, OX1 3UL.
