Assistant for Research, Events and Communications in Competition Law

Ariel Ezrachi seeks a graduate research student interested in assisting with the organisation of activities and events at the Centre for Competition Law and Policy (CCLP) during the next academic year.
The Events, Communications and Research Assistant will have the opportunity to get involved with a variety of activities at the CCLP. Projects will include:
- Assisting with CCLP event programming, invitations and organisation during the academic year 2024-25;
- Supporting the operation of ‘The Value of Competition’ pro-bono programme during the academic year 2024-25;
- Providing technical assistance for events taking place during term time over the coming academic year, supported by the IT and AV teams;
- Assisting with the writing, editing and proof-reading of academic reports/outputs;
The student should be based in Oxford during term time and be present at in-person events, workshops and conferences as requested. The work will be supervised by the Director of the Centre for Competition Law and Policy, Professor Ariel Ezrachi.
Duration and hours
This support is required by Professor Ariel Ezrachi and the CCLP during the academic year 2024-25 from 1 October 2024 to 30 June 2025.
Hours of work will not exceed 100 over the year, with the exact distribution of hours to be agreed between the Assistant and the Supervisor.
Reporting
The Assistant will report to Ariel Ezrachi.
Requirements
- Current registration as a graduate research student at the University of Oxford.
- A solid understanding of and strong interest in the broad field of competition law and policy.
- Excellent writing, editing and proof-reading skills, with the ability to write and edit publicity material, event reports and compose compelling social media posts.
- Demonstrable social media, communications and IT skills, including Zoom, PowerPoint, Excel and MS Teams.
- A highly organised, motivated individual with a willingness to work flexibly.
- The capacity to work well in a team.
Eligibility
The opportunity is open to graduate research students at the University of Oxford working or interested in the broad field of competition law and policy. It is expected that the work will be undertaken in the UK and in term time. This is not a role suited to remote working in term time.
Rate of Pay
The work will be paid at £17.02 per hour (including the exceptional non-consolidated uplift for 2022-23), which equates to University Grade 6, point 1, on the basis of completed and approved timesheets, which must be submitted to payroll@law.ox.ac.uk by the last Friday of each calendar month for payment on the last working day of the following month.
In addition, paid annual leave will be assumed to be taken in the month in which it was accrued.
