BCL and MJur Administrator

The Faculty of Law seeks to appoint a Course Administrator to support a range of administrative functions for the BCL and MJur.  These are one-year taught Master’s-level degree programmes with a combined intake of approximately 150 students, and the Course Administrator will support all aspects of administrative processes for the teaching programme, including examinations and, to some extent, admissions; and will provide other assistance to the BCL/MJur Course Director and the Faculty’s Academic Administrator. The postholder will report to the Senior Administrator for the MSc in Law and Finance and Postgraduate Taught Courses.  On a day-to-day basis they will also work closely with the Academic Administrator, the BCL/MJur Course Director, and the Chair of the BCL/MJur Exam Board.


The successful candidate should have proven administrative experience in a comparable role; ability to produce very accurate work to deadlines, without close supervision, and to handle large amounts of data and information; capacity to understand and follow complex administrative systems and processes; a high standard of written and oral communication; excellent organisational skills and efficient working methods, ability to manage and prioritise among competing tasks; ability to work independently, using own initiative with good judgement for assessing when advice or approval is required; IT proficiency; effective communication and ability to demonstrate tact and discretion, both when dealing with sensitive and confidential information, and in responding to particular needs of students from a diverse range of backgrounds;

The post is full time and permanent and the postholder will be based in the Law Faculty, St Cross Building, St Cross Road, Oxford, OX1 3UL.  The Law Faculty operates a flexible working policy, in which it is possible to arrange some remote working by agreement with the line manager, usually after the initial probationary and training period have been completed.
