Blog Editor, Global Prisoners’ Families

Professor Rachel Condry is looking for a blog editor to help with the Global Prisoners’ Families website pages and network development. The project aims to support and develop an existing network of international researchers, to further develop the group’s global reach, and to develop the online presence of the network.

Tasks for the Blog Editor will be:

  1. To develop a blog with regular posts, to invite and schedule posts and edit their content.
  2. To assist in organising events and to develop pages to share both online and in person events.
  3. To develop the ‘people’ pages and be proactive in contacting members and ensuring these pages are up to date. To further develop contacts with global researchers to expand the reach of the network.
  4. To develop pages showcasing members’ work
  5. To manage the social media feeds for the network.

 

Duration and hours

Working hours: a total of up to 208 hours across the duration of the project, to be agreed with the project supervisor.

Start date: 8th May 2024

Date by which the work must be completed: 15th December 2024

 

Reporting

The Blog Editor will report to Professor Rachel Condry

 

Requirements

  • A good understanding of the field of Prisoners’ Families is essential.
  • A good knowledge of the field of Criminology is essential.
  • A Masters degree is essential.
  • Ability to work independently is essential.
  • Good communication skills are essential.
  • Experience of conducting research on prisoners’ families is desirable.
  • Experience of using Drupal or other website content management systems is desirable.
  • Experience of managing social media communications is desirable.

Your normal place of work will be the St Cross Building or the Manor Road Building, Manor Road.  However, provided you have the agreement of your PI/Supervisor, and a suitable space to work (including library access if required), it may be possible to undertake the work remotely.  

In all cases the work must be undertaken in the UK.

Eligibility

This opportunity is open to current graduate students in the Centre for Criminology and Faculty of Law.

 

Rate of Pay

The work will be paid at £17.03 per hour, which equates to University Grade 6, point 1, on the basis of completed and approved timesheets, which must be submitted to payroll@law.ox.ac.uk by the last Friday of each calendar month for payment on the last working day of the following month.

In addition, paid annual leave will be assumed to be taken in the month in which it was accrued.

This opportunity is funded by a Law Faculty Internet Engagement Fund award (FIEF2122-06). The role is advertised within the terms of our Blog Editor scheme.

Guidelines for Faculty members, line managers and students

Work must not commence without a letter of engagement or variable hours contract and a right to work check having been carried out by the Faculty Personnel Officer.

Graduate student engagement opportunities in the Faculty of Law usually fall into one of three categories: Research AssistantGraduate Teaching Assistant; or Blog Editor

Full-time graduate research students in the Faculty of Law are advised that any paid work should still allow them to spend at least 40 hours per week for a minimum 44 weeks of the year on their studies. Full-time graduate taught students are recommended not to undertake more than 8 hours’ paid work each week during term-time study periods.

Students may not work for their own supervisor without the approval of the Associate Dean for Graduate Students.
