The Institute provides a focus for research and teaching in the fields of European and comparative law within the Faculty of Law. It holds regular seminars and conferences, many of which lead to books in the series from the Institute published by Hart Publishing, and every year it hosts numerous visiting post-doctoral researchers who carry out advanced research and contribute to the academic community. The Institute also manages the Faculty’s four-year undergraduate programme, Law with Law Studies in Europe, which involves a year in a European University under the Erasmus scheme, by preparing the Oxford students to go abroad and by welcoming foreign students who study the Diploma in Legal Studies at Oxford.

The Institute also includes within it the Centre for Competition Law and Policy, a focus for the research and teaching of competition law and policy at the University of Oxford.

For further information about the activities of the Institute, see our Annual Reports.
