What are your career ambitions?

I would like to continue my work as a tax lawyer. At the moment, the focus is on developing my technical skills and understanding; however, as I progress, I would like to become more involved in submitting on tax policy. At present my career solely focuses on what the law is – I would like to branch out and start to test what the law should be.

What do you enjoy most about studying law in Oxford?

The people. I am continually astounded by the calibre of my Oxford colleagues. Notwithstanding the potential to significantly expand my network, I have (more importantly) developed close friendships.

What do you find most challenging about your programme?

The program encourages us to understand the principles that underpin the technical overlay of tax law. This is often difficult to grasp; however, it is rewarding because it provides a deeper understanding of why the law is as it is.

What advice would you give to a new or prospective student?

Enjoy the process. Whilst it is difficult at times, it’s a great opportunity to immerse yourself in reading lists that have been carefully constructed. Treat it as an opportunity to indulge!
