Careers Service Recruiters Meeting 14 June - 2nd Year Law Student Panelists Wanted

Oxford Careers Service

The Careers Service’s annual Recruiter Group meeting is taking place on Tuesday 14th June in Oxford and we are looking for students to join a panel and help the employers find out how they can improve their recruitment process. Our Recruiter Group are employers who recruit heavily at Oxford and amongst them are banks, consultancy firms, law firms, fast moving consumer goods companies and so on. The student panel will run from 11.30am – 12.30pm at the Careers Service, followed by a free lunch and the chance to network with a range of recruiters.

The types of questions that recruiters often ask are as follows:

  • what it is like to be a student in Oxford?
  • your thoughts on any part of the recruitment process you have been involved in
  • what sort of social media you use for job hunting and keeping in touch with employers
  • what you think of employers' marketing, training, image in Oxford

We are looking for second year undergraduate law students who have applied for vacation schemes or training contracts and so have some experience of the application process and would be willing to share their ideas. It does not matter, for the purposes of this panel, if you were successful or not.  There’s no real preparation to do beforehand – just have a think about the sorts of questions that recruiters ask, as outlined above.

If you are interested, please email me, Juliet.tomlinson@careers.ox.ac.uk and copy in my two colleagues Claire.chesworth@careers.ox.ac.uk and abby.evans@careers.ox.ac.uk to your response (we are the organisers of the event and any one of us may be in touch with you to confirm details).  Please include your year and any application experience or vac scheme/ internship experience you’ve had so far. Thank you.
