Departmental Lecturer in Intellectual Property Law

The Faculty of Law seeks to appoint a Departmental Lecturer in Intellectual Property Law during the academic year 2021-22. The Departmental Lecturer will be required to engage in advanced study and primarily lecture and teach undergraduate and graduate students, and to conduct some independent research in the field of Intellectual Property Law. The Departmental Lecturer will report to the Vice Dean (Personnel) of the Law Faculty
The postholder will be required to undertake advanced academic study to underpin lectures and class teaching, and identify and develop lines of original enquiry; write research articles for peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and reviews, disseminating research findings at conferences; teach IP law, principally in small groups, up to 144 units per year. This is equivalent to a teaching load of up to six contact hours a week during term time. The particular teaching duties will be subject to the direction of the Faculty from time to time; assist the Convenor of the IP teaching group with teaching-related administration, such as updating reading lists, arranging tutorials, assisting with the delivery and organisation of workshops on the IP Diploma, and dealing with student requests for extensions on their assignments and engage in assessment and university examining.
Applicants should hold a doctorate in, or be close to completion of, a doctorate in intellectual property; have an aptitude for teaching and some experience of teaching; sufficient depth and breadth of knowledge in the subject to develop course materials and an aptitude for producing research outputs of the highest quality.
The post is full time and fixed term for 12 months and will be based at the Faculty of Law, St Cross Building, St Cross Road, Oxford, OX1 3UL
