Closing date: Friday 18 March 2016

Des Voeux Chambers Oxford – Hong Kong University Visiting Fellowship

Applications are invited for the Des Voeux Chambers Oxford-HKU Visiting Fellowship 2016. The Fellowship provides an opportunity for an Oxford academic to spend one month visiting HKU thanks to the generous sponsorship of Des Voeux Chambers.

Duties

The aim of the Fellowship is to foster intellectual exchange between colleagues at the participating universities.

The Fellow will normally be expected to visit HKU for a period of one month, commencing in or around late August-September.

Prior to the visit, the Fellow should contact a relevant member of the HKU Faculty of Law, with whom he or she shares a common academic interest, with a view to discussing and possibly collaborating with regard to research interests during the visit.

In addition, the participant may also be invited to deliver some guest lectures during the visit, depending on his or her field of interest and any logistical considerations.

The Fellow is further expected to act as an ambassador for Oxford whilst at HKU, and will be invited to provide at least one introductory talk on Oxford as a potential destination for graduate studies, as well as to attend relevant social or professional events during the visit.

Benefits

The Fellow will be provided with:

- a shared office space in the HKU Faculty of Law;

- a stipend of £5,000 paid direct by DVC (or a pro rata sum thereof where the term of the visit is reduced on reasonable grounds);

- reasonable costs of residential accommodation during the visit, the precise details of which are to be determined and arranged by DVC

- an economy-class return ticket between London and Hong Kong

Eligibility and selection process

The Fellowship is open to postholders in the Faculty of Law (including its Centres). Preference will be given to scholars at the earlier stages of their academic careers.

The Fellow will be selected by an appointment panel consisting of the Dean, the Associate Dean for Research, and Professor Mindy Chen-Wishart, in consultation with representatives of HKU Faculty of Law.

Colleagues should apply by email to personnel@law.ox.ac.uk by Friday of week 9 of Hilary Term 2016 including a short CV and a one-paragraph outline of the research areas they would expect to pursue during the visit, and any reason why their research might usefully be done in Hong Kong.

Informal enquiries may be made to mindy.chen-wishart@law.ox.ac.uk.
