ESRC 2018 Festival of Social Sciences
Application deadline: 1st June 2018
ESRC Festival of Social Sciences (3-10 November)
How it works
The Festival events are organised by researchers from universities across the UK, and then these are promoted and supported by the ESRC under the Festival ‘umbrella’ – so there is lots of flexibility, in terms of practical planning, and in choosing an event format.
In the past, the Festival has included film screenings, virtual activities, hands-on activities, debates, outdoor events, seminars, workshops, and exhibitions. This is not an exhaustive list though, so consider whatever makes sense for your research.
Proposed events need to:
• Be held within the Festival period (3rd-10th November)
• Fit with the aims and objectives of the Festival
• Feature social science (ideally with a social scientist involved in the event)
• Be free to attend
• Not be aimed primarily at academic audiences.
Applicants can apply for up to £1000 of sponsorship funding – but applicants who don’t need additional funding are welcome to apply too.
Past funding holders have included:
• ESRC funded grant holders, postgraduate students and those working in ESRC funded investments
• Non-ESRC funded social scientists
• Museums, science centres and tourist sites
• Young people organisations and schools
• Local authorities and other government bodies
• Social science organisations
