The Oxford Sustainable Law Programme, Faculty of Law, Oxford Climate Policy Hub, and Oxford Martin School are delighted to invite you to a public lecture by Frank Elderson (European Central Bank) at the Oxford Martin School on Thursday 21 May, 16:30 - 18:00, followed by a drinks reception.

Frank Elderson has served as a Member of the European Central Bank's Executive Board since 2020, overseeing supervision, enforcement, and the ECB's work on climate-related financial risks. He plays a leading role in the debate on the role of central banks to address climate change and risks of nature degradation and served as the inaugural chair of the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS), a coalition of over 130 central banks and supervisors who voluntarily contribute to the development of environment and climate risk management in the financial sector and to mobilise mainstream finance to support the transition toward a sustainable economy. In November 2024, he was listed by the Time magazine as one of the world’s most influential climate leaders.

The lecture will be introduced by John Armour, Professor of Law and Finance and Dean of the Faculty of Law, and is followed by a moderated Q&A with Thom Wetzer, Associate Professor of Law and Finance and Director of the Oxford Sustainable Law Programme.
