The Family and Medical Law Discussion Group (FMLDG) is pleased to welcome Carlos A. Larrauri, Visiting Researcher in the Department of Psychiatry, to give a talk on precision psychiatry and its legal and ethical dimensions.

The talk will draw on his leadership role with the Accelerating Medicines Partnership in Schizophrenia initiative, which aims to advance pharmacological interventions for those at risk of psychosis through a multimodal biomarker approach. It will then examine how precision psychiatry intersects with legal and ethical concepts - including informed consent, coercion, and self-determination - what these tensions mean for clinicians, lawyers, and policymakers alike, and the vital role of people with lived experience. This will be followed by Q&A.

The event is hybrid: the in-person venue is the IECL Seminar Room at the Faculty of Law, St Cross Building, St Cross Road, Oxford, OX1 3UL, whilst this is the Teams link for joining online.

Complimentary tea and coffee will be provided.
