Examinations Officer

The Examinations Officer performs a key role in the Law Faculty by undertaking the management of the Faculty’s undergraduate examinations, as well as being involved in processes associated with the Faculty’s taught course examinations. 

The post-holder has principal responsibility (under the direction of the Academic Administrator and the oversight of the Director of Examinations) for the practical management of all aspects of the undergraduate examinations which take place at the end of the 2nd and 3rd terms. This will include organising and taking minutes, timetables, examination papers, receiving marks and inputting them to the examination databases, overseeing the provision of materials in the examination room, drafting and circulating information for candidates, and advising the Director of Examinations and Chairs of Examiners on procedural matters.  The role includes significant use of a database, a virtual learning platform, and spreadsheets to transfer, process and manage data and information. 

Applicants should have a meticulous eye for detail in the production and revision of written documentation, and in dealing with numerical data; experience of working at a similar level in a broadly comparable role; a good general education; excellent communication and organisational skills; a capacity to write fluently and coherently; a confident and co-operative approach, and strong IT skills, including experience of working with databases.

This is a permanent, full time post but candidates should be willing to work longer hours during the busiest times (mid-March to mid-April and mid-May to mid-July).
