The Faculty of Law is seeking to appoint a permanent Finance Manager. The Finance Manager has primary responsibility for the Faculty’s financial administration; taking a lead in the Faculty’s financial reporting and monitoring and ensuring the overall effectiveness of financial processes and controls. She or he will support the development of the Faculty’s financial strategy and will be responsible for preparing and managing its annual budget and forecasts, using financial modelling effectively and costing both regular and new activities. This will include responsibility for the preparation and monitoring of all budgets across the Faculty, and for the liaison with the Division over the consolidated accounts, including those of the centres and other key budget holders. The postholder will ensure that the Faculty has in place effective and resilient financial processes and controls. She or he will ensure that the Faculty’s financial position is closely monitored and that timely, accurate management information is provided to Faculty members. The postholder will promote understanding of the financial implications of decisions through high quality financial information and reporting. He or she will play a key role in developing the overall financial health of the Faculty and its Centres. The successful candidate will be educated to degree level, with strong accounting knowledge, evidenced by an ACA, CIMA, CIPFA or ACCA qualification or progress to the final stages of qualification (in exceptional circumstances account may also be taken of skills gained through experience), and have significant experience at management level in a large, complex organisation with proven management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and reporting skills in a complex, research intensive environment.
