Fund for Global Human Rights Postdoctoral Fellowship

Grade 7, £32,817 to £40,322 p.a.
Supervised by Kate O’Regan, Director of the Bonavero Institute, and under the guidance of Professor Chris Stone, Professor of Practice at the Blavatnik School of Government, this three-year post-doctoral fellowship, will provide an opportunity for an exceptional candidate to conduct research in an area of human rights and also design curricula and materials for the Symposium on Strength and Solidarity for Human Rights (the Symposium) which is aimed at building resilience in human rights organisations globally. The candidate will also assist in developing innovative forms of communication relating to human rights employing written, audio, and audio-visual media, for the Symposium and for the Bonavero Institute. The candidate will also be expected to undertake independent research in an aspect of Human Rights for 25% of their time, preferably in a field broadly related to this project.
The successful candidate should hold, or be close to completion of, a PhD/DPhil in Law or a related field; expertise in an aspect of human rights law or practice relevant to the project, such as one or more specific human rights, the rule of law, democracy and/or the role of human rights organisations; demonstrable familiarity with scholarly literature and debates in the broad field of human rights including human rights practice; the ability to work professionally in English and at least one of the following languages: French, Spanish and Arabic, and outstanding research skills and the ability to assist in the design and development of curricula and course materials for the Symposium.
The post is full time and fixed term for 3 years. The post will be based at the Bonavero Instiute of Human Rights, Mansfield College, Oxford, OX1 3TF
