Graduate Mooting Assistant 2021/22

The Faculty is seeking to appoint a Graduate Mooting Assistant for the 2021/2022 academic year. The work would be ideal for an MPhil or early to mid-stage DPhil student (i.e. with at least one year of study remaining in October 2021) with a strong interest in mooting.
Reporting
The Graduate Mooting Assistant will report to Dr Hayley Hooper and Dr Luke Rostill, who are the Law Faculty’s Mooting Officers.
Requirements
The responsibilities of the mooting assistant include:
- Assisting with the organisation of the various internal moots, such as the Herbert Smith Freehills Disability Moot and the Maitland Chambers (Cuppers) Competition;
- Co-ordinating Oxford’s participating in certain external moots, such as the Jessup;
- Answering queries from students about the Oxford Mooting Programme;
- Maintaining the mooting webpage and preparing stories for Law News.

Eligibility
This position is open to current graduate research students in the Law Faculty and the hours are in line with the restrictions on working hours for students. It is expected that the work will be undertaken in the UK.
The Graduate Mooting Assistant will not be expected to undertake more than eight hours’ work per week.
Rate of Pay
The postholder will be paid at the standard research assistant rate of *£15.37 per hour (based on Grade 6 point 1) plus holiday pay of £2.63 per hour worked (= total of £18.00/hour) for up to 195 hours across the year (= £3,510).
*the pay rate is pending the agreement of annual uplifts from 1 August 2021 which are subject to national university staff pay negotiations
