Head of Programmes, Bonavero Institute of Human Rights, Faculty of Law

Applications are invited by the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights for a Head of Programmes, commencing 1 October 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter. 

The Bonavero Institute of Human Rights has recently been established by the Faculty of Law at the University of Oxford.  It is located in a new building in Mansfield College. The Faculty intends the Institute to become a world leader in research and scholarship in the law of human rights, including, as part of that work, the improvement of the public understanding of human rights and the linking of research to practice. 

The Head of Programmes will report to the Director of the Institute and will build upon and develop strong links between the Institute and those working in the broad field of human rights. The successful candidate will assist the Director in the development of programmes for the Institute to promote the achievement of the Institute’s strategic vision and ensure the efficient working of each Institute Programmes on day-to-day basis.

Applicants will need to have a postgraduate degree in Law (or related field), or equivalent practical experience; relevant and extensive management experience in a field related to human rights; demonstrable skills in developing and implementing new strategies and a commitment to human rights and the rule of law.   Experience and skills in planning and managing new projects and programmes in emerging areas of Human Rights Law is desirable.

The post will be based at Mansfield College, Oxford, OX1 3TF
