Logging on in teaching rooms (St Cross)
For Teams, to log in academics need:
- SSO details (same as log-in used for university email) – in the abc1234@ox.ac.uk format (not firstname.lastname@law.ox.ac.uk)
- Be sure you know your password.
- Phone for multi-factor authentication, ideally using the Microsoft Authenticator App due to patchy phone coverage within the St Cross Building
- Google Android. On your Android device, go to Google Play to download and install the Microsoft Authenticator app.
- Apple iOS. On your Apple iOS device, go to the App Store to download and install the Microsoft Authenticator app.
- The IT Services pages include step-by-step instructions on how to set this up.
Once done, you will simply need to click an 'Approve' button on your phone each time, rather than having to type a code on the host PC.
- If you don’t have a smart phone there’s an alternative solution involving a USB security key for which please contact Charlotte Vinnicombe.
To get recording permission on Teams, this form needs to be filled out (this only needs to be done once and almost everyone teaching last term will have done so by now):
For Zoom:
- Zoom log-in details (unrelated to SSO)
General advice:
It makes for a much smoother transition between sessions if:
- PowerPoint presentations (or similar) are loaded on to the room PC from a flash-drive.
- All rooms now have a USB socket in the cable box on the front desk or lectern for this purpose.
- While it is technically possible to, say, login to email/OneDrive DropBox or whatever; or present straight from a laptop, it does take much longer to get a class started.
- Presenters arrive with a few minutes to spare so that classes can start on time, with the equally important corollary that presentations finish on or before time, so that the next class can be set up.
