BCL students visit the International Court of Justice
Post-graduate students in the International Dispute Settlement (IDS) class of the Batchelor of Civil Law course visited the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for the closing arguments in Arbitral Award of 3 October 1899 (Guyana v Venezuela). Students followed the hearing in the Great Hall of Justice and met briefly with counsel for both states. The students also met and discussed with Judges Dire Tladi and Hilary Charlesworth, as well as with judicial fellows and legal officers of the Court.
The Faculty thanks the Registrar, the Information Department, the Judges and Officers of the Court for their warm hospitality. The IDS class tries to visit the ICJ every academic year so that students can experience first-hand international dispute settlement in action.
