Dr Brooke Marshall wins Inner Temple's New Author book prize
Associated people
Congratulations to Dr Brooke Marshall, Associate Professor of Law, who has been awarded the New Author Prize in this year's Inner Temple Book Prize competition for her book Asymmetric Jurisdiction Clauses (Oxford University Press).
The prestigious award was presented at a ceremony at the Inn on 2 December by the prize's patron, HRH The Princess Royal.
Asymmetric jurisdiction clauses generally allow one party (often a financial institution) to resolve disputes in any competent court, while restricting the other party (often a borrower) to a single specified court. Dr Marshall's book addresses these clauses' enforceability and effects, bringing clarity to the current law in the EU, England, and Contracting States to the Hague Convention 2005.
Reflecting on the award, Dr Marshall said: "It was an immense honour to receive this generous accolade from the Inner Temple, presented by HRH The Princess Royal, and a great privilege to have my book recognised in this way. I am very grateful to the Rt Hon Lord Justice Dingemans and the prize judging panel for the time and care they devoted to appraising my work."
