Human Rights Day 2026 - Oxford Human Rights Hub offers a global perspective
Human Rights Day, celebrated annually on 10 December, commemorates the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This year’s theme is “Our Everyday Essentials”, which aims to re-engage people with human rights by showing how they shape our daily lives, often in ways we may not always notice.
The Oxford Human Rights Hub, directed by Professor Sandra Fredman, contributes to understanding and engaging with human rights on a daily basis through blogs, journal articles, and podcasts. The blogs from across Afghanistan to Bangladesh to Venezuela showcase the positive impact of human rights implementation as well as the negative impacts of violating human rights. The journal articles excavate specific areas of human rights laws, from a legal minimum age of marriage to reparative approaches to human rights violations. The podcasts cover topics such as death penalty, sexual harassment laws in Africa and women in constitutions.
Follow the Oxford Human Rights Hub to keep abreast with open-access daily dialogue from academics, practitioners, and policy-makers from across the globe to advance the understanding and protection of human rights and equality.
