Students compete in PAX Moot Court competition
In April a team from the University of Oxford participated in the PAX Moot Court competition in Sofia, involving issues of private international law. The team took part in four preliminary rounds, ultimately finishing 10th overall and receiving an Honourable Mention.
PAX is a specialized moot court competition focused on Transnational Law and Private International Law issues. In this competition, participants are able to learn and apply first-hand the complexities and nuances of how international Conventions and EU Regulations interact in the context of globalization. Without pleading on the merits of the case, PAX Moot participants are given a case geared towards private international law questions (jurisdictional, choice of law or recognition and enforcement issues).
The team comprised Zoe Rawlings, Ashlyn Cheong and Joel Horsman. They enjoyed themselves and the experience of mooting in front of distinguished judges as well as the opportunity to meet with teams from all over the world. The students thank their coach, Jonathan Saunders, for his guidance in preparing them for the moot, Dr Brooke Marshall and Dr Johannes Ungerer for their invaluable feedback and expertise, and Dr Jordan English and the Law Faculty for their support.
