Open Access Monographs Forum: Weston Lecture Theatre

10th October 2018

The Bodleian Libraries, together with colleagues from the Humanities and Social Sciences Divisions, and from OUP, will be hosting a University Forum on the Open Access Monograph and on the implications of the policy proposals as currently framed on Wednesday 10th October, 2.30-4pm, in the Weston Library. The proposed changes to the policy on Open Access for monographs in the next REF after REF 2021 will have profound implications for researchers in the humanities and social sciences. Oxford, with its internationally pre-eminent community of researchers in those disciplines, and with the world’s largest academic press as a Department of the University, needs to understand and take a view on these proposals.  Equally, we wish to be in a position to use our expertise to contribute to the national debate and influence policy at its formative stage.

For the Forum, we intend for a number of speakers from the Bodleian, academic divisions, OUP, Research England and Royal Historical Society to form a panel, and for the event to be open to academics, librarians and colleagues from the broader world of publishing to contribute to the national debate on this policy and to enable a policy position to be taken by the University.

Places are limited. Please email rsvp@bodleian.ox.ac.uk if you would like to attend.
