Part-time Administration Officer (maternity cover)

The Centre for Socio-Legal Studies is seeking to appoint a part-time Administration Officer.
The postholder will be directly responsible to the Centre Administrator and will provide general administration and secretarial support to the Centre Administrator, the Centre Director and PA support to Professor Christopher Hodges, Head of the Swiss RE Programme on Civil Justice Systems. When required, the postholder will also provide assistance to other members of the Centre, such as the Director of Graduate Studies, and other research programmes within the Centre, e.g. the Civil Justice programme.
The postholder will be the first line of contact for all enquiries in the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies, as well as being responsible for welcoming visitors to the Centre; responsible for sorting all incoming/outgoing mail and acting as the first point of reference for couriers, deliveries; draft/type correspondence, undertake photocopying, arrange meetings and occasional travel arrangements; ordering and maintaining stationery supplies and other necessary consumables and equipment, whilst checking that prices comply with budget; maintaining the petty cash float; help to arrange the yearly graduate interviews, and prepare documentation for the Director of Graduate Studies and oversee the Academic Visitors to the Centre, in collaboration with the Head of the Visitors Programme.
The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills, both written and oral; be a highly competent IT user, with experience of using Microsoft Word applications; ability to collaborate effectively and flexibly with colleagues and work as part of a small-knit team; ability to inter-relate with senior individuals in government and business and have good numeracy skills.
This is a part-time (21.9 hours per week or 0.6 FTE) fixed-term post until 31 January 2022 arising from the maternity leave of the current postholder
