Post-doctoral Research Fellow (PDRF) in Environmental Law

Grade 7: £33,309 - £40,927 per annum
We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Fellow who will work as part of the CO2RE, a new multi-centre, multi-disciplinary research hub, focused on the emerging topic of greenhouse gas removal (GGR). The role is to formulate, construct and test a framework of analysis for the legal and ethical implications of GGR projects and other mitigation actions through writing both academic and non-academic papers and engaging with relevant market, public and private sector stakeholders. The postholder will report to Dr Sanja Bogojević but be part of a wider team of academic researchers who are working on the governance, legal and ethical factors, as part of the overall project.
The successful candidate will manage their own academic research and administrative activities;. adapt existing and develop new research methodologies and materials for comparative evaluation of GGR projects, focusing on governance and legal aspects of GGRs; prepare working theories and analyse qualitative and/or quantitative data from a variety of sources and collaborate in the preparation of research publications in high quality international academic journals together with other academics and members of the team, as well as translate methodology and findings into non-technical briefing papers for presentations to financial sector, government and other stakeholder groups.
The applicant should hold, or be close to completion of, a postgraduate degree (PhD/DPhil or Masters) in Law, a legal qualification and post qualified experience may also be taken into account where relevant.; have knowledge of and research on the interaction of legal and regulatory regimes as they relate to GGRs; knowledge of the English legal system; demonstrable ability to clearly and effectively interpret, explain, present and communicate research results to different audiences (including academics, policy makers, practitioners and other non-experts); have experience of writing to a high academic standard and a growing body of publications (either co-authored or sole authored) in high quality journals; excellent project management skills and the ability to work independently and manage their own academic research. Training or qualifications in environmental science is desirable.
The post is full time although part time hours will be considered, fixed term for 12 months and will be based at the Law Faculty, St Cross Building, St Cross Road, Oxford, OX1 3UL.
