Research Assistant: Computers & Law Research Group

Professor Rebecca Williams is looking for a research assistant to help with the development of the Computers and Law microsite on the Faculty website.  The project aims are to gather materials and populate the microsite.

Tasks will include:

  • Contacting academics working in the field
  • Learning to use the tools necessary for editing the microsite (training will be provided)
  • Taking an initiative in producing content

Duration and hours
Total number of hours of work available: 25

Start date: 8th June 2022

Date by which the work must be completed: 31st July 2022

Reporting
The Research Assistant will report to Rebecca Williams.

Requirements

  • A knowledge of the field of law and technology is desirable.
  • Experience of using Drupal or other website content management systems is highly desirable.
  • The work can be done in any place in the UK where you have access to a good library and internet. Meetings with the PI/team members will be held in Oxford or online as preferred.
  • The ability to be proactive and interact effectively with other members of the Faculty is vital.
  • It is also vital that the person appointed is able to be organised, maintain momentum, and deliver results to schedule.

Eligibility
This position is open to current graduate students in the Law Faculty and the Computer Science Department and the hours are in line with the restrictions on working hours for students in each of those departments.

Rate of Pay
This will be paid at the standard research assistant rate of £15.60 per hour (based on Grade 6 point 1)  plus holiday pay of £1.88 per hour worked (= total of £17.48/hour). Holiday pay will be paid in the month in which is accrued.

Funding
This position is funded by the Computers and Law Research Group Allowance.

Guidelines for Faculty members, line managers and students

Work must not commence without a letter of engagement or variable hours contract and a right to work check having been carried out by the Faculty Personnel Officer.

Full time graduate students in the Faculty of Law may work up to 8 hours per week, or a common sense average across the year, regardless of the type of work.

Students may not work as Research Assistants for their own supervisor without the additional approval of the Associate Dean for Graduate Students.

It is expected that the work will be undertaken in the UK.
