Salary £40,942 p.a. (current rate).

Merton College proposes to appoint a full-time Stipendiary Lecturer in Law for the the academic years 2020-24 (48 months from 1 October 2020) while Professor Mindy Chen-Wishart is on leave (consequent upon her appointment as Dean of the Faculty of Law). The first year will be probationary.

The main duties of the post will be: to give eight contact hours of tutorials per week in Full Term in Contract Law and in two of (a) Roman Law, (b) the Law of Tort, and (c) Land Law to undergraduates reading Law, to undertake research in Law, and to assist in the administration of the subjects involving Law in the College.

The successful candidate will have completed a relevant Master’s level qualification in Law and will ideally also have completed (or be close to completing) a doctorate in Law in a topic relevant to the teaching range of this post. In addition to undertaking teaching and organisational duties, the successful candidate will be expected to give pastoral support to undergraduates and to assist with Admissions.

The ability to provide effective tutorial teaching to high-achieving undergraduates is essential.
