Team Leader (x2) - Pathways to Law National Conference in Warwick, August 2022

The Baker McKenzie Access Officer, Zoe Campbell, is looking for two students to fill two Team Leader positions Leader for the Pathway to Law National Summer Conference at Warwick University, running from the 22nd to 26th August 2022.  Accommodation and meals will be provided, but the cost of travel to Warwick will not be covered. 

The Conference will welcome 250 Pathways to Law students from the twelve participating institutions for a four-day residential event which will include a variety of activities focused on the sector.  You will be supporting a group of 25 students alongside another Team Leader as they make their way through the conference during the day.

Duration and hours

The National Conference will take place on Monday 22nd – Thursday 25th August 2022 but you will be expected to arrive by midday on Monday 22nd August for pre-conference training and orientation.

The total hours of work during these dates will be: 50

Breaks will be permitted but will not be paid.

You will be engaged by the Faculty of Law to undertake this work, and your timesheets will be submitted to Zoe Campbell, who will pass them to the Faculty Payroll Office for payment.

Reporting

The Team Leader will report in the first case to Zoe Campbell and then to the relevant member of The Sutton Trust with the responsibility of managing the Team Leaders.

Person Specification

Ideally you should satisfy most, if not all, of the following criteria:

Essential

  • Current undergraduate student, preferably studying law or a related degree
  • Experience of working with young people
  • Awareness and understanding of the rationale behind the Pathways to Law programme
  • Hardworking, personable and reliable
  • Ability to guide and motivate a group of young people through a variety of activities
  • Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively.
  • Experience with Pathways to Law students as a mentor or ambassador
  • Experience facilitating groups and leading interactive activities such as team-building activities, ice-breakers and reflections
  • Experience of working in a residential environment.

Rate of Pay

The hourly rate of pay will be based on University Grade 3, £11.14 per hour plus holiday pay of £1.34  per hour worked.

This work is funded by the Sutton Trust, who fund the Faculty of Law Pathways to Law program.

Further particulars

Graduate students in the Faculty of Law may work up to 8 hours per week, or a common sense average across the year.

Work must not commence without a letter of engagement and a right to work check having been carried out.

Approval of the Associate Dean for Research Students is required for any graduate student to work for their supervisor.
