A welcome from the Dean

As we begin a new academic year, we welcome new faculty members and students to the Oxford Law Faculty.

New faculty members include the Regius Professor of Civil Law, Professor Wolfgang Ernst, Associate Professors Dorota Leczykiewicz and Adam Perry, and Career Development Fellow in German and EU Law, Martin Brenncke. There are two new research fellows at the Institute of European and Comparative Law, Jaan Paju and Axel Möller. Charles Manson is joining the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies and Khadija Carroll and Francesca Menichelli are joining the Centre for Criminology as researchers.

We welcome back our returning students and, of course, we look forward to meeting the class of 2015-16. We have over 60 new research students, around 200 new taught masters students (on the BCL, MJur, MLF and MSc Criminology degrees) and over 200 new undergraduates.

If you think you might like to be a part of the class of 2016-17, please visit our admissions pages for further information. Most of our postgraduate courses have deadlines in January, but please check the webpage of the course you are interested in for specific information.

This year we are particularly excited to launch a new degree, the MSc in Taxation. This is a two-year part-time course aimed at students from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds, and it will be taught by members of the Oxford Law Faculty in conjunction with the Centre for Business Taxation at the Saїd Business School and leading practitioners. It is designed to give students a detailed knowledge of the law together with a deep and interdisciplinary understanding of questions of policy.

We also have a new website. We hope that you will enjoy exploring it and finding out more about the many facets of law at Oxford. Please send your feedback to web.support@law.ox.ac.uk.
