Today, we are going through a digital revolution. Is EU company law keeping pace with it? In what way? The benefits of digitalisation are evident. Greater efficiency and speed translates into lower costs. Should the EU be taking any action or it is enough if Member States do it at their own pace? The proposed SUP Directive is the first legal instrument which introduces the direct on-line registration of companies for the whole EU. Will it ever be adopted?

Bartlomiej Kurcz, PhD in Law (Krakow), DLS (Cantab), LLM (Leuven), has been working at the European Commission for more than 10 years. In his career at the Commission he dealt with competition law, the enforcement of the Internal Market rules and company law. He is currently the Head of company law team in DG JUST.
