Celebrating the Centenary

2019 will mark 100 years since the passing of the Sex Disqualification (Removal) Act, which removed the legal barrier to women working as lawyers on the grounds of their sex. The Oxford Law Faculty is hosting an exhibition, ‘A Hundred Years of Women in Law’ from 14th September 2018, in collaboration with First 100 Years.

First 100 Years is a groundbreaking historical project, powered by the charity Spark21, which showcases the contribution of women to the legal profession. It creates female role models by championing the stories of leading women lawyers, shaping the future by celebrating the past.  At the heart of the project is a new digital museum, made up of multimedia stories that tell the history of women in law. This exhibition has been created by the First 100 Years team based on the materials collected since the project began in 2014.

This exhibition is open to all members of the University to view.
