Technological advancements, big data and big analytics have changed, and will continue to change, the dynamics of virtual competition. While the technological innovations have benefited us, we are witnessing several emerging threats, namely algorithm-driven collusion, behavioural discrimination and abuses by dominant super-platforms.  The discussion will explore these emerging strategies and their impact on price, quality, social welfare and equality. It will also consider the effect of online consolidation on the market for ideas, media and democracy.
