Although trade secrets form the basis of the so-called “core rights” of intellectual property, they still play an underestimated role in the scholarly debate. Therefore, this thesis examines the conceptual and theoretical basics as well as the legal protection of trade secrets, especially in view of new legal developments in international and EU law, e.g. the proposed EU trade secrets directive.
