The position of HR Officer in the Faculty of Law is an exciting opportunity for someone interested in developing their career in HR. The purpose of the role is to help provide an HR service to the staff within the Law Faculty which includes recruitment, payroll, personnel administration, and supporting line managers in the Law Faculty.  The HR Officer will report to the Faculty of Law’s HR Manager and be part of the Faculty’s HR Team.

The successful candidate will have relevant experience of working in an HR team, or in an HR-focussed role; be able to clearly and accurately communicate University HR processes, policies and procedures in person and in writing; strong interpersonal skills including tact and diplomacy, able to deal with highly sensitive personnel information and to speak to staff about potentially difficult issues; demonstrable ability to prioritise workload and produce accurate, detailed work within strict deadlines; experience of relevant administrative work including ability to use Microsoft Office and relevant HR systems and databases; educated to A level standard with GCSE (grade A-C) level English and Maths, or equivalent and hold CIPD level 3 or intending to work towards it. An up to date knowledge of employment law in an HE setting, or an understanding of University HR Policy (including equality, capability, discipline, dismissal, and redundancy) and experience of using PxD (although full training can be provided) is desirable.

The post is permanent and full time and will be based in the Faculty of Law, St Cross Building, St Cross Road, Oxford, OX1 3UL, but we support hybrid working on a flexible basis wherever possible, the exact arrangement to be agreed with the Line Manager.
