Borders of Punishment Conference

MRBOn April 19 – 20, an international conference took place in the Manor Road Building drawing together a range of scholars working on the intersections between migration, criminology, and criminal justice.  Presenters came from the UK, Australia, the USA, Canada, Greece, Norway, Italy, Germany, South Africa and Sweden and spoke to an equally diverse audience of around 60 who included academics, students, politicians and practitioners. Organised by Mary Bosworth and Katja Aas (Oslo University), the event was co-funded by the Centre for Criminology, the Law Faculty and the European Research Council. The papers, which map out a new subfield of criminology, will be published in 2013 by Oxford University Press in Migration and Punishment: Citizenship, Crime Control, and Social Exclusion.
