Oxford Legal Assistance's (OLA) partner law firm, Turpin & Miller LLP, were recognised by the Law Society in its annual Excellence Awards, hosted last month. Turpin & Miller LLP were winners in the category of Excellence in Client Service, which recognises those who have gone the extra mile in pursuit of real excellence and client focus. The judges were impressed by Turpin & Miller LLP’s commitment to its clients, as demonstrated by the firm’s drop-in surgery for detained immigration clients and outside clinics for clients who would otherwise be unable to access legal advice. OLA participants volunteer at these clinics, gaining valuable experience in assisting vulnerable members of the community. Emily Boardman, partner at Turpin & Miller LLP, said: “We feel very honoured to have received the Excellence Award for Client Service, especially given the quality of all the shortlisted teams. Many of our clients come from the most disadvantaged sectors of society and the reason we go to work every day is to try and improve their lives, so to be recognised for that is incredible. “We are a firm that was built on legal aid and we will remain committed to it, despite the cuts, and to finding innovative ways of continuing to help those that need it.” Earlier in the year, Turpin & Miller LLP was awarded ‘Legal Aid Firm of the Year’ in recognition of their work.
