Just prior to the Oxford European Alumni reception on the 26 April 2013, law alumni from Brussels, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Croatia and the UK came together to share stories of their time in Oxford. Hosted by Linklaters in their new Madrid offices, members of the international legal profession included managing associates, academics, chief legal councils, consultants and Health Care advisors met to learn about developments in Oxford Law. Maureen O’Neill, the Faculty of Law’s Development Director, asked attendees how best to communicate with law alumni internationally.
Most have joined the Oxford Law Alumni Linkedin Group. Some now contribute to our Oxford Law Twitter account and the majority receive both the eBulletin that is sent termly and the annual Oxford Law News. Several felt there should be more alumni events, particularly those with a legal and perhaps regional theme. Several alumni were interested in holding an event to run in collaboration with the Oxford Alumni Weekend that takes place every September. The Linklaters Professor of Comparative Law, Stefan Vogenaur, agreed that a celebration should take place. Plans were drafted to offer a lecture and tea to follow on the 19 September 2014. If you have ideas or want to express an interest in attending, please contact Maureen O’Neill (firstname.lastname@example.org).
