The 2014 annual gathering of alumni in London proved to be a popular event with nearly 60 past and present MLF students joining together to enjoy the hospitality of Hogan Lovells on the spectacular top floor of Atlantic House.
As the London skyline sharpened into a dramatic sunset, the volume rose as old friends reunited and this year's students took the chance to relax and celebrate the end of their Finance II exam.
There was some merriment as photos from the past four years were poured over and a great welcome given to MLF's who had travelled a long way to be there - Mariah Samost - over from the US – Yusaku Kurahashi in from Tokyo - and Jonathan Khong recently moved back to the UK from Sydney - amongst a great many others who made it to the event. There were the inevitable last minute work crises which kept a few of our alumni at their desks and they were missed by all. Better luck next time!
Dan Awrey said some words of welcome and gave a brief update on the MLF programme, which continues to go from strength to strength. Employers are remarking on the evident skills of alumni they have taken on, with an increasing number beginning to offer internships or other support as an expression of their faith in the programme, the students and of course, the academics who deliver it.
A number of Advisory Board and Law Faculty members were also there to enjoy the evening and even some prospective 2014-15 MLF candidates who came to gain some first-hand insights into what the next year may hold for them. Thanks to the Hogan Lovells contingent who came to join in the Friday night festivities and catch up with their mentees and a special mention to the Hogan Lovells team for providing a beautiful venue and a seemingly endless flow of canapés and drinks.
The evening flowed so smoothly that there was a great reluctance to leave, even after further encouragement from Dan, and the conversation continued whilst waiting for the elevators and then out into the London night...Watch this space for further networking and alumni events - coming soon!
