The University of Oxford Shearman & Sterling Moot took place in Keble College on Saturday 7 February 2015. The problem was based on the law of trusts, specifically on whether a creditor can access trust assets through the trustee’s indemnity where the trustee is in breach of trust. The standard of mooters was very high, yielding some of the closest scores in the history of the competition.
The Grand Final was judged by the Rt Hon Lord Wilson of Culworth. All the four finalists, Mr Byron Chiu and Mr Chun Ho for the appellant, and Mr Daniel Goldblatt and Mr Stuart Sanders for the respondent received praise for their skill and legal knowledge from Lord Wilson, but ultimately Mr Goldblatt and Mr Sanders were victorious.
