The Oxford Legal Walk 2015

On Monday the 19th of October, Faculty members will be taking part in the Oxford Legal Walk 2015, an 8km sponsored walk around the city. The route is themed around the Magna Carta to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the sealing of the document. This event is organised by the Access to Justice Foundation  to raise funds for organisations which which provide legal advice to people who cannot afford to pay for legal services.

The Foundation explain the motivations behind the legal walk on their website:

“The need for free legal advice centres has grown in the past few years. The recession has increased poverty and reduced support services. Meanwhile funding for the advice centres themselves has reduced.

The organisations we support:

  • Prevent families being made homeless
  • Prevent destitution
  • Help older people gain the support to which they are entitled
  • Help women and children who have been trafficked for domestic servitude or prostitution.”

You can help by sponsoring the team. Faculty members and students who are interested in joining the Law Faculty team should contact Michelle Robb to register their interest.
