Under the auspicies of the Oxford Human Rights Hub, Professor Sandra Fredman, Director of the OxHRH and Rhodes Professor of the Laws of the British Commonwealth and the USA; Professor Alan Bogg, Professor Labour Law; Alison Young, Professor of Public Law and Dr Meghan Campbell, Deputy-Director of the OxHRH and Weston Junior Research Fellow have made a submission to the UK Parliamentary Joint Committee on Human Rights.
The Joint Committee on Human Rights (JCHR) is launching an inquiry into the human rights implications of Brexit. The JCHR is examining the impact on privacy and family life, international trade and other human rights protected by EU law. JCHR Chair Harriet Harman said: “EU law provides many important human rights protections. It is vitally important that these are carefully considered in Brexit negotiations, to ensure that we do not weaken any existing human rights protections, especially where these apply to some of the most vulnerable groups in society.”
The OxHRH submission explains the human rights implications of Brexit and calls for continued robust rights protection in the UK.
