On 5 October 2017, Dr Ying Yu visited the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland to attend the First Session of the Intergovernmental Group of Experts on E-commerce and the Digital Economy. She delivered a presentation titled: 'Boosting Confidence in E-commerce: Delivering Dispute Resolution for Consumers'. The work is drawn from her research on the Best Practices of Consumer Redress project in which Dr Yu compares and analyses some of the best practices of effective consumer redress in different jurisdictions, and explores the possbility of and practical approaches to building up an ADR (ODR) Platform of Cross-Border Consumer Redress globally.
Dr Yu was joined by other experts in the field of consumer protection including Ms Teresa Moreira, UNCTAD's Head of Competition and Consumer Policies Branch, and Ms Amanda Long, Director General of Consumers International.
Dr Yu is a Research Fellow of Law, Justice and Society at the University of Oxford, the Deputy Director of the Oxford One Belt One Road Programme, and the Director of the China Programme in the Foundation of Law, Justice and Society.
